CHIME , Children's Heart Internationale MIOT

CHIME is a trust formed by the MIOT hospitals, which in association with MIOT Centre for Children's Cardiac Care,  treats under privileged children  who have congenital heart problems in need of immediate heart surgeries even when they are a day old. To identify the children who need help with immediate heart problems, they conduct camps in different districts. They also dispel fears about the congenital heart diseases from the minds of the people and help them live a healthy and carefree life.

Free heart camps are held at the MIOT hospitals on Children's day  when they are encouraged to walk in and have free investigations  and checkup which might lead on to free medical care depending on their economic status.

Cardiac care for children is a highly specialized area  which requires highest quality equipments, medical skills for it involves operating on even a day old baby. MIOT hospitals in Chennai  is one of the few hospitals in India to be equipped with a Pediatric Heart Care Centre. The centre was started in 2007  by  Dr. Robert Coelho and his team. They went about organizing camps to see where the affected children were and giving them free treatment if their socio economic status id poor.
